About Danica Samoyeds
In 1976 we decided that our children needed a dog. All we wanted was a very special dog for a pet. After studying the breeds that interested us we finally decided on a Samoyed.
The next hurdle was finding the perfect puppy. We finally found Misty, a four month old female. She was a wonderful ambassador for the breed with her superb temperament. Encouraged by a neighbor we entered her in some shows. We were soon to learn that while she was a perfect pet, the life of a show dog was not for her.
Having been "bitten by the show bug" we again started looking for a puppy, but this time, a show puppy. We purchased Weathervane Simply Smashing, Simi, an 8 week old puppy who would start us on this journey. Soon we were able to acquire a male, Danica's Russian Roulette, Shane, and those two dogs were the beginning of Danica Samoyeds. Both dogs finished their championships easily. Shane went on to have a successful specials career with many group wins and placements. He was nationally ranked most of the time he was being shown.
All of the dogs here at Danica today can be traced back to our first show dogs.
